Are you interested in the Shopify solution but would like to take advantage of it for free? Pay less for your subscription? Or get a significant discount? Here are the tips and tricks to avoid paying for your Shopify subscription or get great discounts!
[Update Coronavirus] Shopify is totally free for 90 days for all new users! -> www.shopify.com
This in order to favour all traders or retailers or craftsmen who have not yet switched to e-commerce. This is an opportunity to test Shopify for 3 months completely free of charge to digitize and finally start selling online at a lower cost. With this 90 days free offer, you can create your shop, add products, add a means of payment, choose themes and launch yourself in complete autonomy. And if it's dropshipping that interests you, good news! It also works for new dropshipping shops.
It's a 100% free trial period but limited to the confinement period. So take advantage of it before it's too late.
[Ends Coronavirus update]
You should know that the first versions of Shopify during the beta were totally free! Well ok it's a bit old because it was valid in 2006. But imagine that some merchants are still on these packages! Yes, Shopify has changed a lot since then and the success and the move up-market of the platform has required large technical and human investments. And so the prices have increased.
But there are still opportunities to benefit, at least temporarily, from Shopify for free or to get discounts.
This is the offer that Shopify offers to new registrants on their site (see here). This allows you to test the platform without taking out your credit card, set up an e-commerce shop and start selling online before you have to take out a subscription. It's not a big deal, you can do things in 14 days but it's true that it's better to have all the elements ready before creating your shop to get the most out of it.
If you want to take advantage of the e-commerce function without managing any technical constraints, then the $9 per month version may be for you. With it you will have a buy button that you can integrate on any site like Wordpress, Squarespace, Tumblr, own site, html, php and whatever your web host. You will also be able to sell on facebook and collect payments through this Shopify account. In short, as you can see, for the price we have the essentials to get you started. You don't need to be a Shopify expert to start a shop of this type. It will be difficult to make an e-commerce, impossible to use apps and this will strongly limit your growth. But to get started and not pay too much, this is a great solution.
Conversely, if you have a larger E-commerce project that will require more than one buy button and more than 14 days of projects. You can turn to a shopify partner agency to get a development shop. This is a feature reserved for Shopify partners that allows them to open a shop for you and work on your site for several weeks or months without having to pay Shopify monthly. This solution is ideal for developing large projects, such as marketplaces on Shopify, without having to pay a monthly subscription fee that is not yet required. Once the technical development is complete, your Shopify agency will transfer to you. Look out! It is not possible to have a development shop in production! As soon as you collect payments Shopify will ask you to choose a package. It's quite understandable from my point of view to let the developers work and only charge when the shop is online. It's not a big deal, on big Shopify or Shopify Plus projects, it can be a big saving in the end!
Unfortunately, this offer has been discontinued in 2020 and is no longer available on the market. No real and serious link works to get shopify free for 60 days. All the links you will find on the subject are spam or sites trying to take your personal data and position themselves in SEO.
This offer has also ended and is no longer available in 2020. Shopify has varied its trial period many times in its long history and now offers 15 days free instead of 45. It was also possible at one point to have 30 days free and request an extension for an additional 15 days. Unfortunately, this is no longer possible.
This offer of a full month's free shipping has been discontinued by Shopify and is no longer valid in 2020. Only the 14 day trial period included in Shopify's basic offer remains and is not renewable.
But even if all these 100% free offers are over, there is a way to get discounts on Shopify to pay less for your subscription. The good news is that these discounts don't even need any special conditions, vouchers, cash back or any other economic alternative. These are "pure" discounts on your monthly plan and you choose the amount. So how do you get these discounts at Shopify? It's simple and straightforward
To get an 11.5% discount, simply choose an annual package. Instead of paying your subscription every month, you will choose a package that you pay once a month. By choosing to switch from a monthly to an annual plan, you'll get about a month and a half free at Shopify per year which is not bad at all! Of course, you'll need to get some cash out at the beginning, but in the end, an e-commerce site is for the long term! So you might as well invest a little to reduce your monthly costs.
If you want an even bigger discount on Shopify, you can select the two-year package to get almost 25% off. This will save you $138 on your bill, or almost 4.5 months of monthly Shopify bundles.
And in the end, if you want the biggest discount on Shopify that there is today, still without the need for any coupon. You have to choose the 3-year package. By taking this discounted shopify package, you'll be guaranteed that your price won't change for the next three years already. But also, you'll earn a year's subscription to Shopify offered in return. And yes, 33% is ⅓ of the time you get as a "gift". That's one year free out of the three you'll have bought. It's the biggest discount you can get on Shopify and since it's managed directly by Shopify, no risk of scamming or anything else.
As we've seen, it's difficult to get Shopify 100% free, and that's normal, a software like that requires thousands of hours of development and research. If you've read my opinion about Shopify, you've got all the good things I think about it. However, it is possible to get a great discount on your Shopify subscription by taking out an annual subscription or more. And since it's possible to change the style of your shop at any time, create new products and redo a site almost from scratch on the same subscription, it's certainly worth it. After all, an e-commerce site takes time to take off, so why not sign up and get a discount. You'll still need the platform in 6 months or a year from now.
